From 2000 to the Present: “The New Reality”

In 2000, EnteroLab.com and FinerHealth.com revolutionized Internet Health Services by becoming the first online medical laboratory, the first to offer online consultation appointments and by telemedicine (phone), and among the first medical/health informational websites. Since then, Dr. Kenneth Fine MD using these services have helped hundreds of thousands of people suffering from intestinal, chronic immune, autoimmune syndromes, celiac disease, and non-celiac gluten sensitivity among many other Food-Related Syndromes (FRS).

With the passing of his mentor through the gates of Heaven in early 2025, Dr. Fine is the heir of the original microscopic colitis (MC) knowledge and original research from that mentor Dr. John Fordtran, the original describer of the MC syndrome in 1980, and with whom Dr. Fine began collaborating in 1986. Dr. Fine and Dr Fordtran remained in constant professional discussion of this disorder (its nature and origins) up until the final weeks of Dr. Fordtran’s life. Dr. Fine has independently been the sole expert in his field of clinical assessment and management of MC since the 1990’s, when his first revolutionary treatment idea using bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol) was studied and published, as well as many other research articles further defining the syndrome, especially with respect to its close relationship with the genes and clinical syndrome of celiac disease, as well as MC’s independent relationship to non-celiac gluten sensitivity, as well as to other antigenic food sensitivity.. Thus, today, an anti-inflammatory diet is always needed, and no longer simply a gluten-free diet. Furthermore, all the supposed “gluten-free” foods and products, as well as restaurants supposedly cooking gluten-free foods in gluten-contaminated kitchen’s and by non-experts have made it nearly impossible for any person to be 100% gluten-free today.

Furthermore, almost everyone with European ancestry in this country likely had genes that survived repeated plagues that killed up to 30% of the entire population, meaning they may have had hyperimmune genes, maybe at the time eveninduced  by gluten sensitivity!? Regardless, something truly inflammatory is now going on; that is why we are using the phrase “The New Reality.”
